This is a nice hotel with nice rooms. The front desk staff and valet were both nice and helpful. Their breakfast was a little pricey, so we chose not to eat here and instead found some really good restaurants to go to. We had a balcony room on the second floor and really enjoyed it minus a few issues. The housekeeping was not good. They did not clean anything in the room, made the bed and changed the towels we had left on the floor. We never saw housekeeping, so on the second day we requested from the front desk to please do a FULL clean on the room. We had ordered the chocolate dipped strawberries and fresh cookies as part of the reservation. The strawberries were gone the first night we stayed but the plate was never removed from the room. They charge every night for the strawberry and cookies but you only get it the first night you check in. We also had other trash that was also never removed from the room. The toilet was never cleaned while we there and the floor was never cleaned. There was never hot water in the bathroom sink and the shower you had to turn on only hot water to get any hot water. That is the only complaint I have on the room, or I would have given it 5 stars. The location was great, it's within walking distance to lots of good restaurants, bars, and shops. And the hotel and room are really nice, luxurious. I would stay here again, but hopefully they get better housekeeping before I come back again.

This has become one of my favorite hotels. We booked a room for the NYE party and were not disappointed. The minute we entered the hotel we felt welcome. The lady behind the desk at check in was so polite and accommodating, I am sorry I didn't catch her name. All the staff were very welcoming from the desk clerks to the restaurant wait staff. The only issue was the valet service was a bit confusing to those who don't regularly use valet. There was no one outside to guide or take our car. The cars that night were backed up to the street waiting to be taken away. After finally finding someone who worked with the valet service they admitted everything was backed up and they appeared short staffed (maybe because of the NYE event). Other than that, everything was perfect. The food was excellent, the beds were firm and pillows perfect. Clean linens and the rooms appeared well looked after. I can't say enough of the walk in shower and the space of the room and bathroom. It was all above and beyond. We will definitely book another stay at The Fontaine in the future!

My girls and I had a wonderful night out at The Fontaine. Lake at the front desk was so welcoming and sweet when we arrived in the lobby. Our encounter set the tone for the rest of our stay. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The drinks at the bar were top tier and the food was great. I recommend everyone try this place out, whether it be for a staycation or just a fun, elegant night out on the town. We will definitely be back.

This was my first time staying here (business trip). The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the shower was the best. You have to visit the bar! The bar was beautiful (especially at night), staff was awesome and the drinks were tasty (snickerdoodle martini YUM). I wish I had the chance to stay in the summer months so I could have used the pool and outside areas. I would 100% recommend this hotel.

Let me start by saying the staff is awesome! We were greeted by Tashe, Lakota, and Lake. All of them were so warm, hospitable, and instantly made us feel welcomed. They went above and beyond to make sure we were squared away and even shared great local food recommendations. As a first impression, I felt excited and reassured about choosing The Fontaine. That said, I did not love that the cost of the room didn’t quite match the overall quality or aesthetic. Our usual hotel choice was sold out, and since the price was similar, I expected a comparable experience. The room, however, felt dated. When we entered, there was a (very) strong smell of mothballs that immediately stood out and lasted the entire time. Every time we left and came back, we were greeted with it. The sheets were also old, scratchy, and had small holes in them. In the end, it was the staff that made us feel better about our stay. Their kindness and professionalism really stood out and left a lasting impression. The location is also a plus since it’s very walkable with lots of great spots nearby.

The Fontaine is a solid 4-star hotel, but I would not rate it higher than this. The location is good for going to the nearby Nelson-Atkins museum (0.6 miles away), and the rooftop bar serves good food (not amazing by any means, but solid). The fitness center is pretty small, and it takes two elevators to get to there, with one of these broken on one day, with no stairs available to get there, thus requiring staff to get me there and back via service elevator. Housekeeping was sporadic, giving coffee cups that did not fit the coffeemaker. The beds were comfortable but not super-plush, and the room was pretty small, with no upgrades available. The outdoor pool was closed (due to being too cold), and there is no spa facility. The staff at the front desk were all super-friendly, except a night clerk, who was probably just too tired from an overnight shift. Overall, the experience was somewhat better than your usual Hilton hotel experience, but pretty much in the range of a 4-star experience. I will likely try a different hotel (likely the The Raphael Hotel, Autograph Collection) if and when I return to Kansas city. Sadly, there is no 5-star hotel currently in Kansas City.

Once again the hotel staff went over and beyond to make our stay the best. From the front desk staff to the team in the restaurant, we were thoroughly impressed. A special thank you to Tashae Lake. Her professionalism and kindness far exceeded our expectations. She is an asset to the operation. We will be back next month

The location is top-notch as it’s hard to beat the Country Club Plaza. All personnel were friendly. The room seems clean, but went to call the front desk and found the phone sticky. Nice decor, but the room’s furnishings were a bit shopworn. No coffee maker, microwave or pen and paper were in the room. The hair conditioner in the shower was empty. As others have mentioned, there is an odor that at times permeates throughout the facility. The service and food in the bar was good, but the floor in the bar shakes which is very disquieting. I sent the “reservations team” two emails asking for a room on a high floor (the hotel did not appear to be too booked) and never heard back, but did get a room on the third floor with a nice view of the parking ramp entrance. Overall, the hotel may be ok for some, but could be much better for most. I’m not likely to be a repeat customer.
